Amy Lucille
Amy Lucille is certainly the least visible of the seven Phang sistersl the longest reference I have found to her activities is this:
Daily Gleaner, March 9, 1916
THE SUFFERING JEWS IN POLAND.
"HELP THE SUFFERERS IN THE WAR ZONE."
The following is the present position of the Fund for the relief of suffering Jews in Russian Poland:
Already acknowledged ...£1603 4 6
Miss Lucille Phang has sent a beautifully worked cushion cover as a contribution to the Fund. The work shows great skill, and same is sure to realize a substantial amount which will help the Fund considerably.
...
All contributions should be addressed to Horace V. Myers, Chairman and Acting Treasurer of Fund for the relief of suffering Jews of Russian Poland.
188 Harbour Street,
Kingston.
From the 1920s to the 1950s Lucille travelled to and from Jamaica visiting the USA, Cuba and England; in 1951 she contributed 3 guineas to the Hurricane Relief Fund.
It is interesting that she was the only one of the five surviving sisters who was present at May Soohih's funeral; she and Gladys were the executors of May's will.
I have seen no indications that she shared her sisters musical interests. She may perhaps have been the most businesslike of the sisters, and may have helped their mother cope after their father's death.
But I really do not know - there is so far very little on which to base any opinions
So, Lucille, the fifth of the seven Phang sisters remains a mystery!
1953
PS Using an online genealogy site I have been able to establish that Amy Lucille Phang died in Croydon, in October 1988.
